My H i k i n g Essentials
The weather is starting to cool down, perfect for hiking. If I’m not practicing yoga, I’m out hiking. Being out in nature recharges me, clears my mind, and inspires me. While I’m out dancing with the wilderness, there are essentials that I need along the way. Here are some hiking essentials that will keep you safe and one with nature.
Good hiking shoes are so essential to have a good time. I love my converse, but I know those will not help me while I’m trekking trails. Get a good pair of all around weather terrain shoes. Mine are from Teva, I love these because they’re water proof and they have excellent traction so I can get down and dirty when I need to.
Of course, always bring water with you. When you’re out trekking you need to stay hydrated. I use my Hydroflask, I carry it everywhere I go.
Snacks! You need to replenish your body. I love carrying granola bars with me. They pack a lot of protein and fiber for that energy boost when you start getting tired. You can even make your own! (Recipe coming soon ;)
Sweater & Hat
I always carry a sweater or flannel with me. When you’re on the trails it can get pretty cold when the sun starts setting, so stay comfortable and always bring something warm to wear. I love wearing hats. Hats keep the sun out of my face (I get freckles easily) and they’re awesome for keeping my hair out of the way.
A backpack is super essential when you’re out in the wilderness. I love my Kanken back pack because I can carry a lot without it hurting my back. I carry my camera and my notebook for when I get inspired and I need to jot ideas or thoughts down or snap something that caught my eye. Nature is like a surge of energy for me. When I’m out there, it gives me a lot of clarity and creativity.
So there you have it. Some of the essentials I need when I’m trekking through wilderness. Whats are your essentials? I’d love to know.
Stay happy and healthy… and have fun out there.
