5 Ways to De-stress During the Holidays
Let’s face it, the holidays can be stressful. The holidays bring up a lot of different kinds of emotions and feelings. Maybe its because were coming towards the end of the year and it’s also a time of reflection. Reflecting back on all the things that happened through out the year, good and bad.
So with that said, I decided that this month will be Self Care December. All month I’ll be blogging about all things self care.
To keep yourself grounded through the holidays, here’s a list of 5 things that can help you de-stress during the holidays.
Meditate
Meditating is such a beautiful tool to tap into. Being mindful can unleash a lot of tension and stress in the body. It can also release a lot of mental chatter. Spend as little as 5 minutes sometime during the day to just stop whatever you may be doing and b r e a t h e.
2. Nourishing Foods
Food satisfies the soul. When we feed our bodies the nutrients it needs, our bodies are able to function more efficiently. And our bodies thank us. You’ll soon realize how good you feel and wouldn’t want it any other way.
Make sure you take care of yourself. Make yourself a home cooked meal. Take your time and opt for healthy ingredients. I don’t know how many times just the process of cooking alone has helped me de-stress. Cooking can be very therapeutic.
3. Invest in an Acupressure Mat.
These mats are amazing. They are made of little spikes, and when you lay on them it releases any tension in the muscles. It works.
I set up my mat on my bed and just lie down and 5 minutes later I’m asleep. Sooo good.
4. Rest
Good quality down time. I can honestly admit, I need more of it. There’s nothing like slipping into your pjs getting a warm blanket and having a hot drink. Rest helps us rejuvenate, heal, and repair our bodies. I’ve been taking melatonin recently and it really helps with getting a nice and sound sleep.
Rest up. The more rested we are, the more energy we have to take on the world.
5. Spend time with loved ones.
Spend time with people you love. It can be with family or good friends. Having someone that you trust and can talk to really changes a lot.
Sometimes we hold a lot of repressed emotions and we just need someone to talk to that understands us. Maybe you can set up a day/night and do the previous 4 tips with them. Now that seems like an amazing time.
So there you have it, 5 ways to relax & de-stress yourself through the holidays. I’m about to make myself a smoothie and relax myself ;)
Stay Happy & Healthy,
